Gum.mp3 - Black Audio Society

Upload explores the musical possibilities achievable through the use of a personal computer. Featuring local LA natives alongside global members of the underground electronic music community, the show proves that one’s resources are not synonymous with the creation of impactful music. In this series, hosts Xen Model unveils fresh new sounds in a diverse range of experimental styles such as ambient, glitch, brain dance, flashchore, and hardcore music.

This month’s episode of Upload features tp Dutchkiss.

Spencer Hartling is an LA based experimental musician and engineer/producer under the musical moniker tp Dutchkiss. As a self-taught tape loop artist, Hartling disrupts the linearity of time within music, exploring, and recontextualizing the aural perception of memories through layers of sonic arrangements. tp Dutchkiss’ recent LP High Functioning (2024, Leaving Records) draws inspirations from hisses, hums, and buzzes that are woven into irregular, yet tightly knit compositions. Hartling is also a member of the band Harry the Nightgown, owner/operator of Wiggle World, a recording studio in Altadena, CA, and author of the zine Show Invisibles, or How to Make a Tape Loop.
