We return to Ibiza in the summer of 1987, when British DJs first encountered the island’s emerging dance-music scene and the roots of what would become the Balearic House sound. Pioneers like Alfredo Fiorito and José Padilla built an international following with their open-air, genre-defying sets at Amnesia and Pacha. The magic of the night came less from any single track than from the moment itself—the music, the setting, and the wildly eclectic mix of people. That feeling-first approach still shapes how selectors think about DJing today.
