Roots reggae & dub records, classical cassettes, avant-garde electronic CDs, ambient and new age experimental media – Rare Air is a mixed bag made possible by the human experience of living in the 21st century in the City of Angels, surrounded by inspiration, noise, the constant hustle, and countless record stores full of treasure and good people.
jo la tengo is a los angeles based vinyl dj who is captivated by international and esoteric jams long forgotten and buried in obscurity. mostly motivated by coastal club culture, his selections unearth the dancier and balearic side of international music. for this mix, the selections – which are 100% Italian releases – were mixed on vinyl in one take through a rotary mixer. expect a pop or two!
