ash. is a Bay Area native, Egyptian-American DJ and curator now based in LA. He is the founder of the deep fried party series and resident DJ / curation consultant for the Karachi Community Radio event series. A former music blogger and longtime radio host on San Francisco’s BFF.fm, ash. has a genre-agnostic approach to music discovery–on the hunt for cutting-edge sounds that inspire and confound. He continues to funnel his music discoveries into shraf’s house, a regular newsletter featuring playlists, mixes and personal musings. Outside of DJ/curation activities, he has worked on the music partnerships team at YouTube for the last 10 years, where he supports indie labels and leads Foundry, a global grant program for developing independent artists.
